Huawei Ascend G7

The midrange phone market is saturated with a lot of options. There are literally hundreds of mobile phones branded in this category and it may be hard to get a phone that you would really want.

Today, we are going to talk about the Huawei Ascend G7. Since prominent mobile phone manufacturers such as Samsung and Apple dominated the premium market, Huawei is here to make a name in the midrange consumer market.

The Ascend G7 is a midrange mobile phone from Huawei and it aims to provide a very nice user experience without asking too much money from the consumer. So, does the Huawei Ascend G7 bode well in the midrange category? Let’s find out.

Apple seems to have nailed it when they’ve designed the iPhone 6 as many mobile phone companies opted to have a similar design aspect. That is the case of the Huawei Ascend G7. It has a design that is akin to that of Apple’s flagship mobile phone.

It comes with that metallic back cover and it also has some curved edges that make this phone easy to grip even with one hand. This phone only has a thickness of 7.6mm so it is within a respectable range for a mobile phone. Plus, it is easy to put the phone in and out of your pocket.

Since the Huawei Ascend G7 is said to be in the midrange category and that it seems a little bit cheaper than others, the Huawei Ascend G7 has to cut some corners. The Huawei Ascend G7’s display is a 5.5-inch screen with a resolution of only 720p and a pixel count of 267ppi. Obviously, it is not that comparable with other midrange phones since most phones nowadays come with, at least, a Full HD (1080p) resolution.

The Huawei Ascend G7 does have some respectable specs with a quad-core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz and 2GB of RAM. It is not something to brag about but, at least, the specs should help you get by even with the most demanding of applications.

This mobile phone is also powered by the Android Lollipop version 5.0.2 and the company brought their own EMUI 3.0 into the mix. It only added some aesthetic appeal to the UI and you can still feel some vanilla Android experience to it as well. Thankfully, the company did not install a lot of crapware on the phone, so that is a good thing for people who are looking for an almost vanilla Android experience.

The Huawei Ascend G7 doesn’t have a removable back cover but the company compensated by giving us a 3,000 MaH battery. Most mobile phones nowadays are used as media devices and having a hefty battery life is something that is admired. If you’re looking to make this phone your media hub, then the 3,000 MaH battery that comes with this will be appealing to you.

The camera of the Huawei Ascend G7 is also quite good. It comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera and a 5-megapixel front camera. The rear camera comes with an LED flash and has an aperture of f/2.0.

The app is also quite good and it comes with a host of post-processing features that will help improve your captured images.

Even though the Huawei Ascend G7 doesn’t have a good enough screen, it does bolster its other specifications such as the camera and the battery life.
