Motorola Moto G

February 1st, 2016

The pioneer of mobile phones, Motorola, has created another great mobile phone in their lineup in the form of the Motorola Moto G. Is this new mobile phone for you? Read on to find out.

The Motorola Moto G mobile phone has spawned a lot of iterations and now that it is in its 3rd iteration, what has changed? When the first Moto G hit the market, a lot of people were actually surprised to see a good mobile phone without the heavy price tag.

Since then, Motorola is out to create mobile phones that a lot of people would love; not only from the performance standpoint but also the price.

This mobile phone still has a plastic overall design with a removable back cover. Under the back cover are the microSD slot and the SIM socket. What has changed as far as the design goes? The Motorola Moto G now has a water-resistant back cover which repels any water from coming into contact with the phone. Motorola has probably taken notes from Sony for this one.

The Motorola Moto G sports a 5-inch IPS screen panel display with a maximum resolution of 1280×720 and a 326 ppi. The display is surprisingly crisp and that viewing movies or TV series on this phone is quite a treat.

Under the hood, the Motorola Moto G is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 Quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz. The mobile phone also comes with 2GB of RAM and the Adreno 305 GPU.

As for the operating system, the Motorola Moto G comes with the Android 5.0 Lollipop. I really love the aesthetics and performance of the Android Lollipop. It is clean, it is snappy, and it comes loaded with features that I truly love such as the app drawer being streamlined, Material-designed apps, and so much more.

The battery of the Motorola Moto G is also beefed up quite a bit. The 3rd generation Moto G now has a 2470 MaH battery compared to its predecessors which only have 2070 MaH. For the price and performance, the battery life is more than adequate to last more than 24 hours of use.

The battery is not the only thing that is upgraded in the Motorola Moto G. Now, this mobile phone comes equipped with a 13-megapixel Sony IMX214 rear camera with an aperture of f/2.0. Not only that, but this mobile phone also comes with a 5-megapixel front-facing camera as well.

Pictures that were captured using the Moto G’s camera is superb (for the price, at least). Photos were much crisper and it also performed really well even in low-light conditions.

The f/2.0 aperture is really evident on the quality of the photos. Even though it doesn’t have an optical image stabilization technology, per se, it still performed quite well. Other mobile phones at this price point are blown to the water thanks to the Moto G’s impressive camera.

In summary, the Moto G is a really good mid-range phone that far surpasses other mobile phones in the same price range. The Motorola Moto G costs only $177.
